Description:
11 Missteps in Valuation and How to Avoid Them
Ben Bonifant, Vice President and head of our Business Development Practice will present a session on common missteps in valuation at the BIO Advanced BD Course.
Abstract:
Every pharma and biotech industry executive recognizes the high levels of risk and uncertainty inherent in developing and commercializing pharmaceutical products. Even if accurate discounts could be identified for clinical and regulatory risks, valuations would still need to reflect the uncertainties of product labeling, market adoption, and competitive entry. With so many real drivers of uncertainty, there is little room for avoidable missteps in conducting valuations. Nevertheless, forecasters often overlook opportunities to improve their models. In this session, the presenter will review some of the most frequently encountered errors found in valuation models.
This session will:
- Outline eleven common misconceptions that can reduce the accuracy of asset valuations
- Explain the potential magnitude of the errors discussed
- Provide tips on how to correct misconceptions and reduce or avoid errors
