MSL teams and those who monitor them are separated from each other on a daily basis, with MSLs primarily in the field having one-on-one interactions with healthcare professionals and reporting back to headquarter-based managers and teams. Monitoring MSLs during these interactions and ensuring compliance can be an extremely difficult task to undertake. Creating a community of compliance made up of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checks and balances is one of the only effective ways to safeguard teams against regulatory missteps and repercussions.
  •  Understand the key components to include in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MSLs
    • Standards for interactions with HCPs and sales forces
    • CME and IIS standards
  •  Establish a defined system of checks and balances and compliance reporting
    • Align MSL reporting procedures correctly to avoid misconception of MSL function and outreach

Develop Hiring Criteria to Attract a Great MSL

One of the keys to landing the best MSL for the right area and focus starts with the job description and clearly defined hiring criteria. This panel takes an in-depth look at a number of real MSL job descriptions that are on the market and assesses what makes up a truly great description in order to attract and land the right MSL for the job. Also, look at the key components of the descriptions to ensure the prospective employee has a full understanding of the job and company expectations right from the beginning.
