Abstract:

Doing More with Less in Clinical Development: How to Enhance Efficiency through Better Operational Strategy

Session Chairperson:
Gary Tyson, Senior Vice President, Clinical Development Practice, Campbell Alliance

In this panel discussion, clinical development leaders will define the term “operational strategy,” explain why it has become so critical, and outline how clinical organizations can significantly enhance their efficiency through better operational strategies. Audience members will hear insights regarding how to
  • Identify their organization’s core competencies and decide what capabilities should ideally remain in-house
  • Develop more effective outsourcing strategies
  • Ensure that their organizations have the optimum structures and staffing levels to meet the demands of their development portfolios
  • Implement more efficient work practices, from protocol development, to study start-up, to data management
This panel of experts will help clinical leaders structure their thinking so that they can proactively enhance the efficiency and performance of their organizations.

Protocol Development: Three Keys to Faster, Better Protocols

Session Chairperson:
Gary Tyson, Senior Vice President, Clinical Development Practice, Campbell Alliance

During this session, clinical development leaders will identify opportunities for significantly improving protocol development. This session will highlight factors that will help improve the process, including
  • Approaching protocol development in a clear, process-oriented manner
  • Properly defining roles of various staff involved in development and review
  • Eliminating the “white space” where no value is added to the protocol development process

The Keys to Establishing Best Practices for Accelerated Study Start-Up

Session Chairperson:
Tim Dietlin, Vice President, Clinical Development Practice, Campbell Alliance

During this session, clinical development leaders will share their respective organizations’ best practices. They will also discuss how to develop a study start-up “framework” that includes
  • An upfront assessment of an organization’s current environment and approaches to study start-up
  • Milestones, work steps, and reports to help manage and streamline operations
  • Training requirements and materials to integrate the framework with daily start-up activities
