Description:

Should Big Pharma Abandon Early Stage Research?

Ben Bonifant, Senior Vice President and Practice Area Leader, will moderate a panel discussion on "Reimbursement: The New Investment Hurdle."

Abstract:

Point of View: Should Big Pharma Abandon Early Stage Research?

If pharmaceutical companies have openly embraced externalization as a new mantra, some are calling for a more extreme approach: the abandonment of research and discovery in preference of a search and develop model. In a point/counterpoint style debate, a group of industry experts, both past and present, will argue the merits of in-house R&D. Has R&D become a nice to have, not a need to have in today’s cost-constrained pharmaceutical environment? Can in-licensed or acquired programs alone adequately supply the pipeline?

Moderator:

Ben Bonifant, Senior Vice President and Practice Area Leader, Campbell Alliance
